How they're made

We’ve had a lot of discussions regarding sharing our processes and recipes online, but it’s finally been agreed that I can tell you how LunaStics are made.

To start, we have scoured the globe looking for the best cooks for our treats and we finally found them outside a small village on the side of a mountain in the Black Forest. Living in a huge tree, no less! This group of elves has quite the baking experience, I can tell you…

We take fresh beef marrow bones and roast them with carrots for a good while to give them great flavor and to render some of the fat from the marrow. At the same time 100% grade A beef chuck is being cubed and browned in a large kettle using a small amount of peanut oil.

When everything is cooked properly we add a bunch of water to the beef, throw in the marrow bones full of rich rendered marrow and the carrots they were roasted with along with a good portion of chicken paws. Chicken paws are an old-world way to really enrich any broth or soup and they are the main source of all the natural glucosamine and chondroitin in our products.

Another old-world process we use is to render pure tallow from beef suet by gently cooking it and filtering out all solids. In the old world they used this exact method to make the base for candles, soaps, and foodstuffs. We use it purely for LunaStics.

We let this broth simmer for a full 24 hours before we strain the solids out and separate the fats from the broth. I know, I know, this is exactly what your Gramma did when she made a beef broth. Yup, and we do it all for your best friend.

We remove the bones from the solids, making sure that the rich marrow stays behind with all those solids which are then pureed and added back to the broth along with some tallow. This soup is the soul of the LunaStic. We add that soup to our own blend of wheat, flax and tapioca flours to form our stics. Nothing else.

Unless it’s a flavored Stic, then we go to the elves and… What??

Alright, Okay.

Our flavorings are also 100% all natural.

Flax Meal

Real Beef Chuck

Real Chicken

Carrots

Beef Tallow

Flavored Stics will also have:

Bacon & Bacon Fat or Peanut Butter
